Increasing Access to Oral healthcare in Underserved Communities

How the program works

Step 1: Initial Telephone Consultation

Call 702-763-2725 or complete the online interest form. A team member will review basic eligibility, dental needs, insurance status, income qualifications, medical considerations, and required documentation.

Step 2: Eligibility Review

Applicants may be asked to provide government-issued identification, proof of veteran status or discharge documentation when applicable, proof of age, proof of household income, dental insurance information or proof of uninsured status, and current medical history and medication information.

Step 3: Dental Examination and X-Rays

Patients will receive a dental examination and necessary X-rays. The examination determines what dental hygiene treatment is needed.

Step 4: Additional Dental Needs

You will be referred to a volunteer dentist. Any necessary restorative treatment, such as fillings, or surgical treatment, such as extractions, will be provided only at the participating dentist’s discretion and based on available volunteer services and resources. The RDH Humanitarian Project cannot guarantee restorative, surgical, emergency, cosmetic, denture, implant, or specialty treatment.

Step 5: Preventive Dental Hygiene Services

Once cleared for treatment, qualifying patients may receive free dental hygiene services through The RDH Humanitarian Project.

• Comprehensive periodontal assessment.

• Regular dental cleaning.

• Periodontal scaling and root planing, commonly called a deep cleaning.

• Fluoride treatment.

• Oral hygiene instruction.

• Personalized home-care recommendations.

• Preventive products and supplies when available.

• Additional preventive periodontal services when clinically appropriate.

All services are based on each patient’s clinical needs, medical history, treatment recommendations, and available program resources.

Step 6: Follow-Up Visit

Patients will return approximately four to six weeks after completing treatment for a follow-up visit to evaluate healing and gum health, review home-care progress, reinforce oral hygiene instructions, recommend home-care tools, discuss future preventive care needs, and provide referrals when additional treatment is necessary.
